Legend

I saw this dude cruise past out the corner of my eye this morning. I knew I had to grab a photo.

As precarious as this thing looks to ride, this suave character had heads turning and people talking. Legend.

Tandem cycle chic

As soon as I saw these girls I had the sudden realisation that winter was back. But that wasn't a bad thing.

Wearing an awesome colourful sweater, red beanie and beautiful golden scarf these girls looked so good cruising around in what was probably the only glimpse of sunshine all day.

Likely heading down to Broadway Market for a midday coffee and a bit of people-watching, these girls epitomise what an amazing time winter in London can really be.

We're back! ...Now meet Hugo

This blog has been a little quiet for a while, so we figured we'd snap it back into action to top off the year.

Meet Hugo. This guy lives in Hackney and is a bit of a chiller. He rides his bike everywhere - always has. When he's not headed to and from work or off to meet his friends, he cruises about in London Fields on the weekends to see what's going on in the world. Not a bad life, really.

Giddy Up!

cyclechic1
Here's Grace leaving her flat in Kings Cross and riding on down to Bank. The major roads, and the level elevation allow her to zip anywhere she wants on a whim.
"I am totally spoiled!"

On her rides, Grace likes to wear dresses and loves the versatility of over-the-knee socks.
"Socks are more robust than tights, so even if they snag on gears or cogs, they're not ruined. I also love being able to pop off my socks when it gets too warm and there's no need to find a bathroom to do it."

"I also like to wear a velvet equestrian helmet when I ride. You wouldn't believe the positive comments I get when I wear it on my rides!"

Definitely loving Grace's look and check out those shoes!

Keep sending you Cycle Chic pictures in - we know you're out there!

Ciao Bella!

DSC_0006
Anna, an Italian art student studying in London, was on her way to meet a friend for a bike ride down to the Seven Sisters in Brighton (don't worry, they took the train!)

Anna loves cycling in London but doesn't fear cycling on the roads amongst the cars and buses.
"I don't know why, maybe because I come from quite a sporty background and have road confidence. It's a shame that a lot of girls my age fear cycling on the roads in London. I absolutely love it as it gives me that sense of independence!"

Keeping it simple and comfortable in a breezy top and tailored shorts. Bellissima!

Catching Up With Londoners - Bethany

DSC_0001
As I was coming out of London Bridge Rail Station it took me two minutes to spot a glimpse of Cycle Chic in the corner of my eye. Yes London! You have NOT disappointed me! So I rushed over to say hi to our first London Cycle Chic profile of 2013.

Working the chilled summer look, Bethany opted for a long yet light floral skirt with a strapless top. Finishing the look with rounded oversized sunglasses. Bethany is the epitome of a cycle chick as not only does she commute daily by bike but she also enjoys cycling challenges like her recent bike trip from Rome to London. Although she may have left the skirt at home for that... DSC_0003
Bethany loves to cycle in London. It's one of the largest cities in the world but as soon as she hops on her bike "everything suddenly seems like round the corner."

She has high hopes that London will become more cycle-friendly and wishes to see more women cycling!

Thanks Beth for showing us how it's done!

See Your City. Feel Your City. Love Your City.

Well hellooooooooo Londoners!

If you haven't heard of us until now I bid you a warm welcome to London Cycle Chic. It's one of the many branches stemming from the world-renowned fashion blog Copenhagen Cycle Chic - where it's all about commuters dressing for their destination and NOT their journey.

Whilst I ramble on, take a look at some of my best Copenhagen moments from this summer...

London is one of the greatest fashion capitals. No doubt about that. So surely it should be a rich pool of Cycle Chicness. We need contributors - and we know you're out there! So take a few snaps of yourself showing us how you like to look on your London ventures and we'll frame it here. Send them in to our Facebook Page by messaging us.

Who's running the show? LCC was started up by urban mobility rockstar, Mikael Colville-Andersen, the guy whose photos "launched a million bicycles" and essentially kick-started the whole global bicycle movement. Yep, the power of the blog. Make no mistake, Cycle Chic simply celebrates the freedom of cycling and wearing whatever you like. So we invite you to join the Cycle Chic movement.

I didn't really answer the question above. I'm Kristina (aka K.E.G.) and interned with Copenhagenize Design Co. this summer'13. I started blogging for their company blog, CCC, and loved it! I believe that any city in cycling transition needs a bit of Cycle Chic to keep it fun and light.

Some of my favourite characters from the summer.

I'm studying at the University of Manchester but am originally from West London (big it up Ealing!). I'm half-English and half-Danish and grew up seeing the best of these two worlds. Now I'm bringing what I deem to be the best of Copenhagen living to Manchester and hopefully the rest of the UK. I've just launched Unicycle (Manchester), which aims to be all about student cycling promotion. If you're a student in Manchester, check out our Unicycle Facebook Page. We want to think BIG and we want to think BIKE. So "Get On It!"

Right. Long introduction Over. Let's get this show on the road (wording intended)...!
